The Apple display has no controls to adjust any of the setup (selecting resolution, aspect ratio, enable letter boxing etc) - frankly this makes it practically useless for this situation. Selecting other HD or non-HD resolutions does not help - the display is not the right aspect & there were no settings on the Xbox 360 I used that could help. The top edge pixels seem to be very bright & when you switch back to a Mac you see a horizontal line burned in for days afterwards about 4cm from the bottom of the screen, aligned with the repeating.

The top of the image is shown across the bottom portion of the screen - it is not only distracting it also causes terrible 'burn in' on the display.

The display is larger than HD output (1920x1200 vs 1920x1080) - when the Xbox outputs 1080p the image will repeat on the screen. You may need to try several DVI to HDMI converters, they behave differently because of the different versions of the DVI connector. I had to force the display mode to default to 1080p on a TV, then hook it up to the Apple display. The Apple display resolution is poor at being detected by the Xbox. Most of the Xbox display setup needs to be done on another monitor. A HDMI to DVI converter can work, I have done this with an old Xbox 360 (UK - PAL). You do not need a the EyeTV hybrid ($80) or the Altona HDMI to DVI ($300 !) to use an Xbox with the display. I also have an A1082 Cinema Display, 23inch.

You need an extra converter, and the image will not be HD. So you would need an HDMI to DVI adapter.ДЇrom what I can find however, game consoles are simply not supported on Apple's cinema displays. At least that is the case on the one I own, also an A1082. An A1082 Cinema display does not have an HDMi input.
